Let the Crazy Summer Begin...
So starts another summer, this one more crazy than the last. Full of weekend trips, birthday parties and sprinkler running outside. Also more laundry, due to 3 boys and mud, more tears due to teething and lots of wrestling and yet even more tears. What am was I thinking having kids so close together!
Canaan camping Fathers Day weekend a few tears....
Trace and I at Cousin Nissa's wedding on the Island
Jaxon loves to throw rock in the water at Golden Ears Park. Camping Fathers Day weekend.
The three boys have taken to wresting each other to the death, or whoever starts to cry uncontrollably, and chasing eat other around the house on ride on toys, and then ramming each other with them until I swear there should be chunks of ride on toys flying everywhere... durable little things they are!
So for a bit of an update, Jaxon and Canaan are now 19 months!! 19 MONTHS! Where has this time gone, they get into EVERYTHING, always go in opposite directions and are eating me out of house and home! They eat almost an adult portion at every meal EACH! And still weigh only 20 pounds. (Trace was 28 by now!). Trace is in swimming lessons and although he loves the water he seems to have problems with authority... go figure.. and listening to his teacher, so we will wait until Sept due to vacations and put him back in! Trace has made some new friends with the neighbor girls across the street and even stayed there for dinner one day. He was pretty proud of what a big boy he is! He is also totally potty trained... no pull ups no diapers ... thank goodness!!! One less diaper to change.. the twins are NOWHERE near being ready!
So as we are heading into the long weekend and heading up to Shushwap lake we look forward to NO rest... and relaxation due to the water front lot my parents have.. but instead we look forward to life jackets, splashing in the water swimming with the twins and Trace, boating, chasing the twins, chasing Trace falling asleep early and exhausted and with HUGE smiles on our faces!

Shhhh.... I am trying to train...
Yup trying to get my butt in gear here... have the triathlon in less than a month with the Sun Run the next day.. along with a birthday party.. something tells me that Monday I will not be able to move! I am deciding between the names Samson or Emery for my bike name... based on some of the suggestions provided by you ladies! Thanks!!! I googled strength names for boys and those are two of my favs!
Boys have been CRAZY lately... Trace NEEEEEDS everything and repeats over and over, Jaxon is super sweet and Canaan is loving the sound of his own scream... Ear piercing deafness usually follows a super scream from Canaan... yipeee for us. Trace is finally getting his last 2 year molar... after over 2 years of teething I am DONE with that and him teething... thank goodness! I checked his mouth today and sure enough it is through and bleeding... ugh. Jaxon has 6 teeth (one just came thought) and Canaan is working on his sixth. He seems to get them one at a time while Jaxon gets them two at a time... strange.
My brother in law and sister in law had a little baby girl yesterday... LOVE her name... Brooklyn Grace. She is beautiful and tiny... and sooo sweet! My sister in law was lucky this time around labour was quick and she made her entrance almost in the car!!! So the family is now 5 grandchildren deep on one side and almost 4 on the other!!! I am so blessed to have so many cousins for the boys! all girls too ... so at least I get my girl fix.
Hoping to head out for a run soon.. although I am sure it will rain the minute I do, so to those that actually read this... Samson or Emery? What to name my bike... which I am loving more and more!!!

A Tri... and a Name????
Well yesterday I completed my first triathlon... although it was only a short (400m swim, 10 km ride, 5 km run) it was HARD! Lots of fun but mind blowingly hard! Getting in the pool and knowing that all around you people are swimming and trying to do their best... realizing that a 50 m pool is WAY different than a 25 m pool and just hoping to get through it. Then the confusion of getting changed, while wet, and running to your bike with legs that are jelly... finding your bike and getting on it without issues... doing the ride. Realizing you needed to practice more... finding a spot to put your bike, then looking for your backpack that another rider placed their bike on, and shedding some gear before the run. Your legs feel like LEAD for the first km... which you can't believe is only 1 km. by about 2 you are in a groove and realize that YES you are almost done! You make up some time lost during confusions and changes and come out feeling pretty darn good! I can't wait for the next one... April 16th. I am doing a Sprint so 700m swim, 20 km ride and a 5km run!
After all is said and done I have been told by a few people that I need to name my bike... He is black and white and grey... a road bike and I love him! Soooo anyone want to help with his name? suggestions?

Goodbye Farmville!
Ok so lame I know... and yes I am writing about it. I woke up this morning, got the kids eating and sat down to play some farmville, and suddenly thought REALLY? I mean come on... I could be sitting with the kids, eating with them and playing even more with them. This is stupid. I worry about my crops... yes I felt LAME! Sooo deleted... blocked, erased.. GONE! I feel... hmmm relief. I can blog, knit, play with kids and do lots of other things instead of that. And my husband can stop making fun of me. YES! A friend of mine deleted it a month or so ago and I remember thinking.. wow wish I could do that. Then I realized that yes it was an addiction and it needed to go.
Well don't want to spend to much time one here... twins are sleeping and it is just me and Trace.. time to sit down and play or cuddle him.. whatever he wants! sigh... bliss!!!!

Teeth, painting.... hmmm what else???
Well it seems as though the mystery of the fussy kid has solved itself. Canaan has popped a tooth. That makes 5 for him and 4 for Jaxon. Wondering when his will pop. In good news Trace's last 2 year molar has finally popped through!!! HE IS DONE!!!! Ahhh and breathe. I have to say I am not a fan of this whole teething thing, the kids are uncomfortable, they get whiney and then I get... hmm winey? lol as in a nice drink at the end of the day!
I don't remember if I mentioned this before but I am also done nursing them! yup... made it to 14 months. Never had to buy them formula thank you! I have to admit.. I understand that yes breastfeeding is good for the kids, it gives them everything they need but I found that my main motivation was the price of formula.. is that so wrong? I realized with Trace that formula is not always the easy way to go. It is so much easier to just whip a boob out feed and put it back away. No sterilizing, no bottle prep.. no worrying about temp of anything... although happy to say boys are on Whole milk and I am done!
The parents are away in Palm Springs right now so Kyle and I have decided to paint the master bedroom. I did a base coat and a first coat today... while kids were eating and sleeping... Kyle will finish the two walls tonight and we can start on the other two walls tomorrow!!! Mom and Dad will be very surprised! Maybe our room will finally feel like our room instead of my parents old bedroom. I have to say that living at home again... although it has some challenges has been a lot of fun.
In amazing news my sister in law and brother in Edmonton are coming in 13 more sleeps! I am soo excited to finally see them. I have missed them. We are all going to cram inside the house and hopefully head to the aquarium and do some other fun stuff while they are here!
Ok kids are getting fussy and I need to make a phone call... will hopefully post some pics soon!

Girly Knits
Sigh.. yup picked up my knitting needles again recently. It is so nice to have a project in mind and to feel like I am making something truly special for someone. My sister in law on my hubby's side is having another girl! That means GIRLY KNITS! In pink!!!! So off to the yarn store I went and picked up some great stuff! Already half way through the first one. Can't wait to start the next. At least it blocks the gory stuff of TV from me while we are watching Criminal Minds, or Grey's.
I am also training for a triathlon. After many years of no sports for me, I have decided.. it is time to invest in myself and something that I will enjoy doing. So my dad and I went off to the bike store and bought me a road bike! Although I haven't ridden it yet I can't wait. Thought I would try out a little bit of everything in one day and see how I do. So I ran up to the gym on Tuesday night, about 3 kms or so, then I did a one hour spin class (which kicked my butt!) and after that it was off to the pool for 36 laps. I have to say that although I was tired I was feeling pretty good! I can't wait for the real thing... and doing the swimming first instead of last! I think my times will be a bit better!
Well babes are up... so I am off! that was a short post. Hope to keep up with this a little more!

Potty Training... and some other stuff
Soooo we have decided to start potty training Trace.. well we have potty trained him, I think. We are on week three, and with two under our belt we are definitely having WAY less accidents! And no real pee ones, only the messy poop kind. Yipeee for me. I woke up on the 10th of January and said.. what the heck why not put him in underwear and haven't really looked back. That day started with 7 accidents, the next day 6 and it has gone WAY down since then to maybe 1 a day! I have to give a BIG thank you to skittles for being an awesome candy for treats once he has peed, one for a pee and two for a poop!
On Saturday we decided to venture to Nana's house for a get together with Trace only in his undies... well only one accident and go figure it was a NASTY poop one. UGH, but all in all a successful outing. I am excited as we have WAY decreased our diaper output and Trace seems to be now having fun with it. He picks his undies and loves to show off his ummm "deposits" to me and Daddy, Granny and Grampa and any other guests over for a visit. Lucky them!
Canaan is now full time walking! Which makes life extra crazy, and to top off our week last week, Jaxon burned himself. So we have been dealing with keeping his hand clean, Canaan getting into everything and making sure that Trace is not peeing or pooping in his underwear!
AHHHHH!!! I felt I needed an outlet of some sort and so I picked up a knitting project, a new pair of socks for me! And looking at making some things for little babies on the way too!
So our life in a nutshell has been just that lately.. nutty! Will post some pics soon and I really do hope to keep this updated!

Emotions.... or whatever
As many already know we are moving... and not just down the street or across towns but into another province and back into my childhood home... yup moving back with the parents. Although this is temporary.. like a few years or so it is humbling, and stressful and all sorts of different things. We are currently looking for a renter for our house, trying to find a home for our cats (a wonderful friend has said she will take them.... but that is this weekend... I don't know if I am ready to say goodbye yet), packing a house with three young kids in it... and even trying to comprehend saying goodbye to my friends and family here... FORGET IT! I break down even thinking about it. We have made some amazing friends out here. I don't know if I could have survived Alberta without one particular bff...
So with only a few more weeks I am FREAKING out about everything. We have also had a wonderful house guest this last week who helped us finish the kitchen, take care of the kids and pack some boxes... he left today so now I am alone with my thoughts again. I hate being alone with my thoughts. And to top it off I have had the flu the last few days. Yes I know that this is turning into a woe is me post but that is how I feel today... yup I said it today is a down day. Kyle is going to work from home after he comes back from the airport as I don't have any energy left... what an awesome hubby.
Well off to loaf on the couch and watch the kids play... thank goodness they will play for hours... I don't know what I would do if they were having another needy day today. Only one needy person allowed/ day.

Snow??
Yup snowed last night... woke up this morning to find my oldest son already up and playing in the living room. We bought him mini hockey sticks this weekend and he has taken to sleeping with one and playing whenever he gets up. Funny thing.. I don't really care, b/c he now sleeps with the hockey stick he only insists on ONE soother! or Churro as he calls it! I am hoping to wean him off of soothers by Christmas.. maybe have one very cool toy that takes its place! He only gets them at bedtimes now too thank goodness!
Canaan is standing... most of the time without knowing it and only for a few seconds but wow!! Don't know if I am ready for a walker yet! It just seems like this year has flown by, last year at this time I had problems moving or walking for long periods, I had Braxton Hicks every 10 minutes and was just hoping to hold on to the boys a bit longer. They are 11 months this week... 11 MONTHS! Where did that go? I keep flashing back to the weekend we brought them home, how cold it was, how scared everyone was to hold them as they were so tiny. Now they are 17 ad 18 pounds, eating solids, only nursing 3 times a day and every day their little personalities show more and more. I feel so lucky to have them every day and yet... man I am tired at the end of the day!
So as some people know we are moving in a month.. yup one month.. still hoping to rent out the house to some nice people (possible renters are coming by this week!) and we packed up the basement this weekend! Yipeee to feeling like something got done for once. So after a full day of packing and moving stuff out to the garage we finally go to relax and realize that our drain in the laundry room is plugged and has overflowed EVERYWHERE! argh!!! No more laundry until Kyle snakes it out. Sooo frustrating man I can't wait to move. I mean I LOVE my house, my neighborhood is awesome but I want to be closer to my family. We are done being so far away and feeling so left out of things!

Rough
Trace on a cool fall day!

Canaan... playing in the grass
Jaxon... playing in the grass! Both at 10 months.

Man I am so ready for this week to be over, trying to wean just one feed from the kids as I do want to be done breast feeding them before Christmas, I am ready for it. They don't seem to be getting enough milk from me anymore and I would like to keep at least two solid breast feeds out of the four I do daily. Soo frustrating .. have tried so many different nipples and sippys ... anyone know the key? warm milk, cold milk? I just need a bit of a break. None of my other friends with twins have bfed this long!

Other than the trying to wean the kids seem to be extra whiny, I am trying to find the time to pack up the house, deal with the kids, hope for a buyer for the house or someone to rent it, then I get rear ended. So off to buy three new car seats which thank goodness my insurance is paying for! They said they will fight with the other insurers to get reimbursed! yipee for me! So three matching car seats, Jaxon and Canaan are now officially out of the bucket seats.
For those of you that didn't know .. WE ARE MOVING!! yup Kyle got a job back in Vancouver so we will be moving at the end of Nov! sooo excited! But so nervous, we have so much to do and sooo little time! I am praying that God takes care of us and helps us with the house ... we are looking for a home for the cats as we are going to be living with my parents for who knows how long. They will take the dog but not the cats as they already have one. It is devastating to think that I won't be curled up around my Jasper at night anymore. Love love love my cats!
Keep on meaning to post more often on here but just haven't found the time. Go figure! If you look back to my day in life you too will understand! haha!

10 Months... where did you go?
I can't believe that come Wednesday the twins are 10 months... I am already starting to plan their party, making the invite list, trying to figure out how we will fit all the kids in the house. Trying to find the answer to the question... what do they need or want for their birthday. Ummmm how terrible of me is it to say... gift cards please. I have no idea what I need for clothes, depends on how fast they grow, we do however need a new big boy carseat so gift cards can go towards that. Or gift cards to clothing stores so that when I do need something I already have the cash to get it! I can deny it I LOVE GIFT CARDS! Always have... the giver gets out of trying to figure out what you want and the receiver can go out and get whatever they want! It is perfect!
Lowered the babies cribs today... they are standing and trying to climb out so I figured for safety sake ... maybe just maybe I should do that. But they look sooo low! And I refuse to believe that my little men are growing up! The twins are crawling and sitting and pulling up... Canaan tries to copy things that I say which is pretty cute... he tries sooo hard! Jaxon is just happy to be held ALL the time! Somewhat frustrating as I can't hold all of them. I have taken to laying on the floor on my tummy and letting them crawl all over me. (They can't poke my eyes this way or grab a boob!)
Trace is talking more and more... he puts words into sentences which is awesome and we are actually understanding bits of it! He has started choosing what he wants to wear during the day which of course is sometimes quite scary... but what do you do? He is in his big boy bed since January, and he is doing awesome! Just figured out door knobs this summer... not so great but at least when he has a nightmare he comes to us instead of us going to him.
Kyle is officially looking at jobs in Vancouver and the surrounding area!!! I am sooo excited yet trying hard not to show it. We told Leavitt 6 months and they don't seem to be doing much about it so we are looking elsewhere a bit too... we both would really like to stay with Leavitt but they don't seem to understand our time line. Ah well.
Posted some updated pics too... for those of you that want to see them!

Who Woulda Thought?.....
Yup who woulda thought that just a few years after I got married I would have three CRAZY boys! My priorities would switch from work to breastfeeding and maintaining sanity. That my love for shoes and purses would switch to diaper bags, strollers and good buys at Baby Gap. Sigh.... I have to admit sometimes I miss just being able to leave the house no worries, heck I miss being able to leave the house. But I wouldn't trade that for the world. Speaking of Strollers my mom just picked up a great buy on a used Valco twin in Vancouver and sent it out. Instead of paying 800 for a new one I only paid 450 for a used one! AND I can mount a third seat on it for Trace... so who knows.. maybe I will be able to get out of the house. We are going to try it this week and go for a mall walk with my friends. We will see how that works... 4 ladies, 4 strollers, 8 children... I THINK WE ARE CRAZY! 2 of us are breastfeeding so at least we won't just be stopping for me thank goodness. Will update after the trip... who knows what will happen.
Ever since my mom left I have had dreams of moving home, a home... where the help is abundant and the friends and family are plentiful and the rain is ALL the time! I am so happy that I had help for the first few months as we are now somewhat established.. the boys sleep for 5 hours at a time now and we are somewhat sain at the end of the day. But to be around my parents and Kyle's family... would be such a prayer answered. Ah well a girl can dream right?
In other news we have shots this Friday for the twins... 4 months already! Where is this time going? Pretty soon I will be making baby food. I am going to the shots alone with them which kinda scares me. Don't know how exactly it is going to work but it will have to. Ah well. I look forward to seeing how much they weigh and how they are doing on their growth charts! Well they are stirring.... time to go!

Visitors??
Well the visitors have come and gone and now I am really on my own every day... frankly it sucks. I love the adult interaction and conversation during the day. To be able to sit down and have a coffee in the morning and chat with a friend or my mom was priceless. Now what am I going to do. We have been pretty busy around here lately and now things are going to slow down a little... sigh. Trace is still getting his first four molars in and come 4pm in the afternoon things get a little scary around here.... yesterday we had a 2 hour cry fest. yuck!!!
The twins are doing really well and probably weighing in over 10 lbs! CRAZY how fast they grow. They are still not sleeping through the night but only getting us up once which isn't too bad. Kyle still wakes up with me so really it only takes about 30 minutes and we are back in bed!!
I have been dreaming lately of moving back to Vancouver and being close to all of our families, being away from them since 2002 has been really hard, I just don't want the kids to grow up so far away from all of their family. But I figure if it is meant to be it will happen... and if not things will happen up here!
Well... off to feed the boys again... the never ending process haha!!

Winter Boogers..

Ok so gross I know... but I have just realized that come next winter I will have three noses to blow, three noses to pick and three boys with all of their sometimes gross little habits... AND this is only the beginning! I am looking forward to the twin being older and to Trace talking a little more. He is trying soo hard to communicate with us and I can see his frustrations when we don't understand what he is saying.
In great news I won the cloth diaper from my amazing friend Pam's website... for those of you who haven't checked it out look up www.acornsoaks.com she has some awesome diapers all of which she has used on her own little man! She has some great other things to check out as well. I highly recommend the Fuzzy Bunz and the Gro Baby Diapers! I still want to try the Apple Cheeks as they are so cute!
On to the Olympics, I have to say I have been glued to the TV for days watching the olympics and looking for people I might know. So far I have seen three people! CRAZY! It makes me miss home and I wish that we could have been down there to celebrate with everyone else. My dad and brother are heading to the Arials competition next week so keep your eyes open for them!
Well Trace is almost done his lunch which means nap time for the whole family!! YIPEEE! Ok well with my luck the twins will wake up just as Trace goes down sigh.. the story of my life. My mom is still here for another few weeks which is nice I am very thankful for everything that she has done here! She is still in the process of freezing meals for when she is gone and I don't feel like cooking!
Well off to clean peanut butter off of Trace's face... don't know how he managed to get it everywhere!! ahah!

Alone... for now.
Well... mom has gone home for 10 days... she will be back on the 6th of Feb for three more weeks then I am really alone. Not sure what I think about that. Living away from home for the last almost 8 years has been hard, you don't realize how much you miss family until you have access to them everyday for 3 months. When I dropped her off at the airport yesterday I thought I was fine.. then I started driving away. Not so fine. I came home unloaded the kids one at a time and undid the boys from their carseats and then everyone started crying, including myself. I put the twins on the boob and then the only ones left crying were myself and Trace.
Today feels a bit better, the boys only got us up once last night which is nice, although we went to bed later. I am hoping that someday soon they will be able to sleep through the night... I know I am dreaming but a girl can dream right? Trace has been better today as well, he has been getting in 4 molars and 2 have somewhat broken through which is nice. I am dreading twin teething, though I know that is a ways off. Anyways... managed to take a shower and put on makeup (well mascara at least) so I am feeling much better today. But I do have my mom coming back to look forward to. Yesterday I was ready to pick up and move home to vancouver, man I miss that place. I wish we could but I don't see it happening any time soon.
In wonderful news I got my first smile from Jaxon yesterday. Sooo sweet, he looked right at me and smiled! yipeee! I was so happy! I can't wait till they are sitting up and interacting more! My mom called from Vancouver today, it is the first time that Trace has actually talked back on the phone, she was asking him all of the animal sounds he knows and he was answering!! Sooo cute!
The above pics are of the boys with their eyes open finally! Both in one pic and then Trace with his thumbs up face and his favourite hat on.. don't ask why but he loves that container!

Been a While

Yes this seems to be the story of my life... it has been a while and when do I actually have time to post. I am now a mother of three little boys. The twins Canaan Keith and Jaxon James are 7.5 weeks old! Man time flies. They were born on the 29th of November 2009 and have kept us busy since. Jaxon was born first at 4 lbs 14 oz and Canaan was born 4 minutes later 4 lbs 3 oz. He was our tiny baby and is now the bigger (by 3 oz) of the two!
Trace is adapting well, he is a busy little boy and I am very grateful for the help my mom has provided. She has been living with us since the end of November and will be staying until the end of Feb. As I type she is making spaghetti sauce to be frozen and used after she leaves! The boy are ALL sleeping YIPEEE!! Trace is now sleeping with the side off of his crib as I am hoping to have his out of his crib by the time my mom leaves as the boys will need it. We still have much to purchase but have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends, neighbors and even my church as they provided meals for us!
Some of our stories of late are Trace getting MANY teeth all at once, he is currently working on his first molars! That will bring our grand total of teeth to 12. He is running around lots and got spoiled for Christmas. He seems to love the boys and loves to hold and cuddled them. He is sure that they need their soothers at all times and ensures that he FIRMLY hahaha puts them in their mouths. As each day goes by the twins spend more and more time awake and I wonder what I should do to entertain them. I am breast feeding them both as well which is going quite smoothly! I am happy that this has been easier than breastfeeding Trace. Who would have thought.
I know that this blog has been many updates and I hope to share some of our stories as I now have a laptop and can use the computer upstairs!
Here are some updated pics of the twins (yes they are identical) and of Trace ... enjoy!
